Imitator

Imitator is a tool to crawl links to look for obvious signs of trickery before the user clicks the link.

Imitator is useful on social networks and in chatrooms where shortened URLs may redirect the users to locations where malware will be installed on their computer or it may be a series of redirects to obscure the real location, hide XSS attacks, or countless other tricks that the user may not be aware of when clicking a link.

This tool is designed to be implemented on a server and then called by browser addons, the social networking websites, or bots in the chatroom so that the user can be notified that the link they are clicking may be dangerous. This can be combined with other data collected from other sources such as the WOT project and lists of known malware sites.
